Even though African Americans work harder than White Americans, they are still placed under the white Americans on the social hierarchy.
Another social categorization that society makes it hard for them to reach the American Dream is Women. In “I Won. I’m Sorry.” By Mariah Burton Nelson states that women are expected to be beautiful, feminine, small and never aggressive or any male characteristic. Nelson also states that woman aren’t supposed to play sports as well as men because women should never be competitive or victorious. This ideology applies to anything dominated by men.
