Lady Macbeth progressed throughout the play from a seemingly savage and heartless creature to a very fragile and delicate woman. At the beginning of the play, she is very ambitious and hungry for power. She pushes Macbeth to kill Duncan in order to fulfill the witches’ prophecy. When Macbeth hesitates to murder, she began to questions his manhood until he feels that he must commit the crime to prove himself, this shows her skill of manipulation. In other words, she provide Macbeth with the necessary encouragement to commit the murder. She even called upon the spirit saying, “Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty!” She did this because she knew that Macbeth does not have the courage to commit the murder. Although Macbeth killed Duncan, she admits that she would have killed him herself had he not resembled her father sleeping. She was able to stayed calm and control her emotions throughout this horrific crime, proving her ambitious and cruel characteristics. She is also a very good at acting, when the news of Duncan’s death breaks, she acts shocked and horrified that that a murder could have been committed in her home. By acting this way, she ensures that nobody suspects Macbeth or herself of committing the crime. However, as things began to fall out of plan everything changes for the worse.
