ADAPTATION OF ANIMAL

ADAPTATION OF ANIMAL(CAMELS)
Camels are animals that live in desert areas, which the lands are dry and the temperature are hot at daytime and are cold at night time. The precipitation rate in desert areas are low, which the amount of rainfall are less than 250mm. So how the camels adapted to this habitat( deserts)?

Firstly, camels have two rows of long eyelashes, which can help them to keep out the sands and dusts from getting into their eyes. Camels also have thick eyebrows that shade their eyes from the sun.Long eyelashes also can protect the camel’s eyes against the sun. Secondly, camels have nostrils that can closed in sand storm so that they won’t breathe in the sands. Thirdly, the camel’s ears are lined with fur to prevent sands and dust from getting in. Fourthly, camels have leathery mouth, which can help camels eat spiky or thorny plants.

Next, Camels stored fats inside the hump which can provide them three weeks food and supply energy for them for a long time. In few minutes, the camels can drink up to 50 liters of water. Camel’s have thick fur to keep the heat from the sun away. Besides, the camel’s thick fur can keep them warm at night. Camels contain very long intestines to reabsorb as much water as possible from the food eaten by them to keep them hydrate for a period of time.

Camels have wide feets to spread their weight to make them easier to walk on sand and to prevent them sinking into the sands. Camels have tough, leathery knee pads to help prevent burning while kneeling on hot sands and also for keeling on rocky ground. Last but not least, camels have long and muscular legs that allow them to walk for miles across the desert.

ADAPTATION OF PLANT(CACTUS)
Cactus are plants that can survive in extremely hot and dry habitat which are limit in water- desert. Cactus have large stem which contain large capacity in order to store large amount of water. Next, cactus contain needles called as spines instead of leaves because leaves will cause evaporation. The cactus carry out photosynthesis py the stems. Spines help the cactus to reduce surface area so it can reduce the volume of water loss and minimize transpiration occurs. Besides, spines can protect the cactus from their predators. When the animals trying to eat them, the animals will get pricked by the spines and unable to eat them. Cactus have thick, waxy skin to reduce water loss through their pores and also to reflect heat. Cactus contain soft tissues to hold the water like a sponges. The cactus can mature quickly and produce flowers or seeds in few days when water is available. Last but not least, cactus contain large network of roots to allow them to absorb water easily. The roots goes deep underground in order to absorb large amount of water. Even though the roots are shallow, but they are extensive, so they can absorb water when its rains.
